A Heritage Forged Over Decades
Founded in 1984 by Shihan Andrew Roubas, our dojos have been cornerstones of Sydney's martial arts community for over 40 years. Through decades of dedicated teaching and authentic Goju Ryu tradition, we've shaped hundreds of students across our Strathfield North and Carlingford locations into confident, disciplined martial artists.
Meet Shihan Andrew Roubas
“Just like a canvas that is being painted, often it is hard to reach perfection. There can always be an extra shadow or additional colour to add. But this is the measure of a real artist; whether it is with a paint brush or the empty hand.”
Shihan Andrew Roubas has dedicated his life to the authentic teachings of Goju Ryu. With over four decades of experience, he continues to inspire students of all ages to reach their full potential both on and off the mats.

Got questions?
Common questions, answered
What should I wear to my first class?+
Comfortable athletic clothing is perfect for your first class. When you sign up, we provide a gi (uniform) for you, so there's no need to purchase your own. We recommend loose-fitting pants and a t-shirt that allows you to move freely.
Do you offer family discounts?+
We believe martial arts is a family journey. Families training together receive significant discounts: 2nd family member gets 15% off, 3rd member gets 25% off, and 4+ family members receive 35% off their membership fees.
How long does it take to earn a black belt?+
The journey to black belt typically takes 4-6 years with consistent training. However, everyone progresses at their own pace, and we focus on mastery of techniques rather than rushing through ranks. Your dedication and frequency of training will influence your progress.
Which location should I choose?+
Both our Strathfield North and Carlingford locations offer the same high-quality instruction and programs. Choose the location that's most convenient for you - we maintain consistent standards and curriculum across both dojos.
