Comfortable athletic clothing is perfect for your first class. When you sign up, we provide a gi (uniform) for you, so there's no need to purchase your own. We recommend loose-fitting pants and a t-shirt that allows you to move freely.
We believe martial arts is a family journey. Families training together receive significant discounts: 2nd family member gets 15% off, 3rd member gets 25% off, and 4+ family members receive 35% off their membership fees.
The journey to black belt typically takes 4-6 years with consistent training. However, everyone progresses at their own pace, and we focus on mastery of techniques rather than rushing through ranks. Your dedication and frequency of training will influence your progress.
Both our Strathfield North and Carlingford locations offer the same high-quality instruction and programs. Choose the location that's most convenient for you - we maintain consistent standards and curriculum across both dojos.
We offer programs for students aged 8 and above. Our Goju Juniors program is designed for children aged 8-15, while our Teens & Adults program welcomes students from 16 years old and up, with no upper age limit.
Not at all! Students of all fitness levels are welcome. Karate training will help you build strength, flexibility, and endurance over time. Our instructors will work with you at your current fitness level and help you progress gradually.
Gradings occur several times per year, typically every 3-4 months. Students demonstrate their knowledge of kata (forms) and fighting techniques appropriate for their rank. Your instructor will let you know when you're ready to test for your next belt.
Safety is our top priority. All training is supervised by experienced black belt instructors. Students learn proper technique and control before progressing to sparring, which is always conducted with appropriate safety equipment.
We offer classes Monday through Saturday at both locations. Junior classes run from 6:30-7:30 PM on weekdays, and senior classes from 7:30-9:00 PM. Saturday morning classes are also available. Check our Timetable page for complete details.
We encourage prospective students and parents to observe a class. You can also book a free trial class to experience the training firsthand. Contact us to arrange your visit or trial.
Goju Ryu combines hard (Go) and soft (Ju) techniques, emphasising breathing methods, close-range fighting, and both linear and circular movements. Our style focuses on practical self-defence while developing character and discipline.
We do compete in tournaments on a regular basis. However, our focus is primarily on traditional teachings and personal development rather than hyper-specific tournament preparation. Students interested in competition are fully supported.
