1984

The Beginning

Shihan Andrew Roubas establishes Roubas Goju Ryu Karatedo Academy in Sydney, bringing authentic Goju Ryu teachings to Australia.

1990

First Black Belts

The dojo graduates its first generation of black belts, establishing a strong foundation of senior students who would become future instructors.

1995

Community Recognition

The academy receives recognition from the Australian Karate Federation and becomes a cornerstone of Sydney's martial arts community.

2000

New Millennium Growth

Expansion of programs to include specialized children's classes and advanced black belt training, serving over 100 active students.

2010

Second Generation

Children of original students begin training, creating a true multi-generational dojo family with deep community roots.

2020

Adapting to Change

Successfully navigating global challenges while maintaining the integrity of traditional training methods and community spirit.

2024

40 Years Strong

Celebrating four decades of excellence, with dozens of black belts graduated and hundreds of lives positively impacted.
